Lowell High School Senior Capstone
Since 2009, LHS seniors have had the option to participate in the Capstone course. Since then, small groups of students have designed approximately 71 projects.
Students designed this website and some examples are included. Other examples can be found at: Senior Capstone Examples II and Senior Capstone Examples III. Both sites are under construction.
The photo above includes Capstone students Kelsey Mullin, Madison Holmes, Makela Chapman , and Taylare Harris. It also includes a resident of Green Acres Retirement Center.
Kim Keglovitz designed the course based on recommendations made in the Michigan Merit Curriculum, and it fits perfectly with the Core Curriculum standards as well.. Carla Stone, the LHS Career Education Coordinator and nationally recognized service-learning expert, assisted Keglovitz.
**A note from Mrs. Keglovitz: The students who created this website found this video which defines the nature of a capstone class and captures the energy of it as well. Next year, LHS will make its own video!
